Prompt Duel opens in The Gladiator Sands — the baseline every later arena is calibrated against. The sequence below is frozen: an arena in it cannot be edited, only replaced by a new slug, because verdicts have to stay reproducible against the exact strings that produced them.

Standing on sunbaked stone in an open amphitheatre, ochre dust, hard overhead sun, empty tiers behind.
Fit here means built for open single combat in daylight: clear stance, visible reach, nothing hidden. Concealment and ambush design are neutral at best.

Advances on the next vest — never mid-queue.
Fit here means able to fight where footing is unstable and weight is a liability. Heavy plate and ground-anchored stances read as poorly suited; buoyancy, sealing, and amphibious design read as well suited.

Every arena passes three gates before it enters the sequence. Arenas are cheap and infinite; a miscalibrated one costs real money and real trust.
The strong→weak ordering of the calibration roster must still hold at ≥90% on non-adjacent pairs. An arena that reshuffles who is good is scoring theme, not craft.
Menace, Craft and Originality must not move more than 1.5 points against the same fixture's Gladiator Sands baseline. Movement beyond that means the clause is leaking into the other axes.
A deliberately generic fighter carrying obvious arena signifiers must lose to a strong off-theme fighter. If theme alone wins, the clause is too strong and gets weakened toward a floor.
Failing any gate: revise the clause and re-run, or drop the arena.
Changing a shipped fragment or clause creates a new slug — never an edit. Verdicts must stay reproducible against the exact strings that produced them.
An arena's establishing image is content-addressed, so the key and the picture are the same fact. Swap the image and you must change the frozen record.
The arena is inside the judged image, so influence over it would be influence over a result. Barred permanently, not deferred.
The Reigning Character is fixed when it takes the seat and is never re-forged or re-checked against a later arena. Arena fit is a scoring axis with a floor, never an eligibility gate — a champion cannot be disqualified for having been forged somewhere else.
